Fan Fiction: Cleveland Browns 2022 Season

Image
Okay so I know none of this is likely to happen but I want to write out my dream scenario for the rest of the Cleveland Browns season.  I don't like DeShaun Watson. I really shouldn't have to explain why. I understand the NFL is full of players who have committed reprehensible actions. I also think there is a difference between a third string offensive lineman who commits such acts, and a QB who is not only the face of your franchise but earns a record setting contract.  All of that being said Jacoby Brissett is a Hall of Fame person. I mean this guy is all-time likeable... WOW!!! Jacoby Brissett gets super emotional at the post game presser. Got choked up talking about him cherishing the opportunity to start in the NFL. WOW!!! pic.twitter.com/DxkzcWKNr5 — 🇺🇸BROWN SPIDER ADVENTURES!!!🇱🇷 #D4L (17-0) (@BrownSpiderCLE) September 12, 2022 Like how are you not rooting for a guy who tears up over the opportunity to play in a football game? That's as "football guy" a...

Making your bed, and running a half marathon

I wanted to write a blog about the Cleveland Guardians and how remarkable their run has been this season. I mean winning the division as the youngest team in baseball, with one of the lowest payrolls in the sport, when many media outlets had you winning less than 75 games this year is incredible. It has been such a special season, but I feel like it has been covered in every way imaginable. FanGraphs had the @CleGuardians <50% to win their division only 15 days ago! 100% chance you don't want to face them right now. https://t.co/IJbrR2Fhrt — Codify (@CodifyBaseball) September 26, 2022   Not only that but I believe in this team, and winning the division is just the beginning.  All day I tried to think about how I can put a creative and funny spin on what the Guardians have accomplished thus far, and everything I was coming up with felt forced. So instead I wanted to open up on a bit of a personal accomplishment that I achieved this past weekend. I ran in my first half mar...

Stop me if you've heard this before

There's drama with the Cleveland Browns organization.  The #Browns have identified and plan to ban a fan who threw a bottle that struck owner Jimmy Haslam late in Sunday’s loss to the #Jets , per sources. Here’s my video of what could’ve been a dangerous situation. The team is cooperating with authorities. https://t.co/a1mvjAkD9e pic.twitter.com/TwuPxr3655 — Tom Pelissero (@TomPelissero) September 20, 2022 Should fans throw bottles? No. Should billionaires exist? Also no. Do two wrongs make a right? I actually think sometimes they do. But...don't throw bottles.  Having said that Jimmy Haslam is lucky that's all that's happened to him. Sure, throwing a bottle is assault, so I'm actually surprised Jimmy didn't give the guy a record setting contract. Maybe if he would have thrown the bottle at Dee Haslam, he would have had the contract ready, since in Jimmy's book assault against women is A-OK. I mean throwing a bottle might be a criminal act, but Slim Jim...

Declaring War on Duck Donuts

Image
Never heard of Duck Donuts?  Consider yourself lucky.  I've had their donuts a couple times before and in all honesty...pretty good. The relatively small chain provides a range of customizable donuts. Again, as far as quality goes these donuts are bomb...no pun intended on the above image. Having said that, FUCK DUCK DONUTS.  The source of my hatred comes from an event this past Sunday September 18th 2022, a day that will live in infamy for the water-bird pastries. My wife and I stayed the night at my brother, and his wife's place and in the morning I offered to order donuts for everyone. I placed an online order with the Fairlawn location. Order went through, I received a confirmation for my order and a pick up time of 9:04am was sent to my email. When I arrived at Duck Donuts there was a sign on the door that said "Closed Today Due to Short Staffing." Annoying? Yes. But this is not something to wage war over.  The frustrating part was the fact I was charged for the...

Overreaction Monday: The Cleveland Browns, Spectacular Losers

Image
The Cleveland Browns are losers. This statement isn't anything new. They have been losers for decades, and even when they stumble into a rare win here or there, they will always find their way back to their true identity: losers.  I know that opening paragraph sounds rough, and I know it may trigger some fans. For some reason a good majority of this fanbase gets upset when others criticize, mock, or even provide a reasonable assessment to what is an unreasonably pathetic excuse for a football team. I know Myles Garrett and other Browns players in the past have taken exception to the fanbase booing or appearing fed up with the team. I hate blaming players, and I hate blaming coaches. I know the players, and coaches are far more talented and competitive than the Twitter finger fanbase but the reality is we have been watching this team long before 95 put on brown and orange and we'll continue to watch them long after he's retired. And because of our eternal tie to such a helpl...
