Overreaction Monday: The Cleveland Browns, Spectacular Losers

The Cleveland Browns are losers. This statement isn't anything new. They have been losers for decades, and even when they stumble into a rare win here or there, they will always find their way back to their true identity: losers.

I know that opening paragraph sounds rough, and I know it may trigger some fans. For some reason a good majority of this fanbase gets upset when others criticize, mock, or even provide a reasonable assessment to what is an unreasonably pathetic excuse for a football team. I know Myles Garrett and other Browns players in the past have taken exception to the fanbase booing or appearing fed up with the team. I hate blaming players, and I hate blaming coaches. I know the players, and coaches are far more talented and competitive than the Twitter finger fanbase but the reality is we have been watching this team long before 95 put on brown and orange and we'll continue to watch them long after he's retired. And because of our eternal tie to such a helplessly pathetic team, we are incapable of a "we'll get 'em next time" mentality. We won't get 'em next time. We'll lose. That's what we do.

I understand that video is equally harsh. For what it's worth I actually think the team is littered with talented players, and I think the coaching staff has resumes that would indicate they should be successful in the positions they are in. I think if the players were on any other team and if the coaches were with any other staff they would be great. But this team. The Cleveland Browns. They're losers.

None of this should be new to Browns fans. The Cleveland Browns have been showing us who they are for decades. They've been showing us they're losers, albeit, they are spectacular losers. I mean, the only two times in the last 20 years a team has blown a lead of 13 or more in the final two minutes...the only two times that has happened the Browns have been on the losing end. No one loses better than us, we are truly spectacular at accomplishing a loss when no one thought it was possible.

So, where do we go from here? Well we keep rooting for them, knowing who they are. I'll root for them knowing they're losers. I'm tired of letting them impact how I feel on a Sunday or Monday. I shouldn't be upset with the Browns for being who they are, I should be upset with myself for believing they were something they are not.

I'm not abandoning them, I'm not burning my jerseys. The team signed a sexual predator to a record breaking contract and, unfortunately, I still can't stop myself from tuning in. So if you think a heartbreaking loss to a Joe Flacco led New York Jets team is going to stop me, you're as lost as Denzel Ward in prevent defense.
