Monday October 31st: Three Things I know, I Know

Starting a new weekly segment, "Three Things I know, I know" where every Monday I will provide three things I know for certain, one will be sports related and the other two could be anything.

1. If Dean Wade continues to develop, the Cavs are a title contender.

I was excited about the Cavs this season, but one of the biggest points of concern was the fact that the team was built on the offensive focal point of two relatively undersized guards. I am not taking anything away from Darius Garland or Donovan Mitchell (who has been an absolute force by the way) but the reality is, teams built around two undersized guards have not done very well in the past. Granted, those teams typically haven't had a versatile big like Mobley or an enforcer like Jarrett Allen...but even with those pieces the biggest question mark has been the small forward position.

It feels like success in this league most often relies on dominate wing play and this has been an area of weakness for the Cavs...until now?... Dean Wade has been great defensively this season, and he is establishing himself as a legitimate threat from deep.

I mean this has to be the ceiling for Dean Wade, I'm not expecting him to go out there and put up this type of performance on a nightly basis, but if he can just play around his average for the first six games of the season I really think it elevates the possibilities for this team.

2. November is spooky season

Yeah I said it. Until recently, I didn't even realize this was a debatable topic. For years it was a Halloween tradition of mine to watch The Nightmare Before Christmas on Halloween because it was the best movie transition from Halloween's spooky season to Christmas time.

November is that transitional month bridging Halloween to Christmas and the early part of that bridge is a spooky one. Obviously October is the spookiest month of the year, but I will go to the grave screaming November is the second spookiest month. It blows my mind that this isn't a universally accepted opinion.

If you live in northeast Ohio you know as well as anyone, November is the first month all the trees have lost their leaves so the foliage is beginning to appear dead. How is that not spooky? Plus there is always an abundance of spooky content that comes out in October. Could be movies, shows, limited series, etc. and there is no way to watch all of that content in the month of October alone some of that has to carry over into November, contributing to its spookiness.

Anyone who says September is spooky is a lunatic. It's like 90 degrees most of September, there is nothing spooky about warm weather, except for the fact that global warming may be putting an end to all of us. That is a little spooky.

3. There are not enough "fun" scary movies

They should be pumping out a fun scary movie every single year. To dive into this a little more, what I mean by "fun" scary is a movie that isn't downright scary, it's more of a family Halloween type of movie. These movies are fun for viewers of all ages. A few years ago there was a new rendition of Goosebumps starring Jack Black, and I was super late to the party watching this movie...but it was actually really good!

That's the kind of movie I'm talking about, one that is centered around Halloween in some capacity, but it doesn't take itself too seriously. Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Beetlejuice, Casper, Double, Double Toil and Trouble...all of those movies are nearly thirty years old at this point. Maybe it is me romanticizing the past but it just doesn't feel like these type of movies are out there in the abundance they once were.

If I am missing out on any must-see fun scary movies that have come out recently, please feel free to share them with me.
