"Beauver-veiw" Week 3

We're back for another week of 2-3 sentence storylines for each NFL game of the week followed by my personal 1-10 ranking of how excited I am for each game.

Enjoy!

Giants (1-1) @ 49ers (2-0)

49ers might be the deepest, and most talented team in the NFL; whereas the Giants will be missing their best player for the Thursday night match-up. The fact the game is out west, and the Giants have had to spend the last week in hotels (they stayed out west after the Cardinals game) gives me very little confidence they'll put up a fight.

4.6

Titans (1-1) @ Browns (1-1)

The Titans are a well coached team that over performs year in and year out, and on the other hand the Browns are almost the complete opposite of that. Without the Nick Chubb injury this would have been an all-time running back match up, but instead it leaves us with two mediocre teams occupying the Sunday early afternoon slate.

3.1

Falcons (2-0) @ Lions (1-1)

Might have been the most predictable Lions loss last week, coming off a huge win against the Chiefs and falling for a disappointing let-down spot. Falcons haven't played a level of competition like the Lions yet, but 2-0 is 2-0.

5.2

Saints (2-0) @ Packers (1-1)

This has less to do with this game and is just a more interesting fact: The NFC South, a division most thought would be the worst in football, is currently 6-2, with three undefeated teams. Packers loss to the Falcons kind of makes it seem like, maybe they aren't "back"...maybe they just beat a bad Bears team.

3.3

Broncos (0-2) @ Dolphins (2-0)

As I'm going through these games, I'm starting to realize this week doesn't have many games jumping off the page, but sometimes those can end up being the most exciting. Dolphins are a really exciting team and I am excited to watch them, but the Broncos, even with Sean Payton, are looking just as helpless as they did last season.

4.2

Chargers (0-2) @ Vikings (0-2)

Despite the fact that both these teams are 0-2, this is by far the game I am most excited for in the 1:00pm slate. It's crazy to think at least one of these teams will remain winless going into week four. Both teams have been exciting in their first two weeks, but excitement doesn't always translate to wins.

7.3

Patriots (0-2) @ Jets (1-1)

Division rivalry that could have been much more exciting without the injury to Rodgers. We'll see if Zach Wilson is going to look like more of the same when looking at his performance from last year to this year. And we'll also have a chance to see if the "Patriot Way" is officially done.

6.2

Bills (1-1) @ Commanders (2-0)

The Bills had a pretty solid bounce-back week with their decisive win over the Raiders in week two. Meanwhile the Commanders are coming off a win they had to fight and claw to earn over the Broncos. Ultimately, I expect the Bills to take care of business, but if the Commanders pull off an upset, I think it tells us a lot about both of these teams.

5.4

Texans (0-2) @ Jaguars (1-1)

The Jaguars haven't impressed me through the first two weeks...I was expecting them to be one of the top teams in the AFC and through two weeks they haven't looked like that. This could be an opportunity for the Jags to assert their dominance over the division, but the Texans are scrappy, and I don't expect them to roll over.

5.6

Colts (1-1) @ Ravens (2-0)

The Ravens are always just a solid and consistent team, and while the Colts took care of business last week, I don't expect that to spark a winning streak. Colts will be without their rookie quarterback, Anthony Richardson, and while Gardner Minshew is a solid back up, I don't see him moving the needle too much for the talent disparity between these two teams.

4.4

Panthers (0-2) @ Seahawks (1-1)

I'm always a little excited to watch a rookie quarterback as they continue to develop. You never know, maybe they will be the best player in the league in the next few seasons...and that is about the only thing that excites me about this game.

2.2

Bears (0-2) @ Chiefs (1-1)

What a WILD week it's been for the Bears. Crazy rumors about their defensive coordinator, Justin Fields making comments about how coaching is hindering his development, and the fact they have to prepare last year's Super Bowl Champion Chiefs. This game is feeling like a blowout before they've even played a snap.

3.7

Cowboys (2-0) @ Cardinals (0-2)

I wasn't kidding when I said the slate weak and the storylines are few and far between. The Cowboys look great, and the Cardinals have played better than their 0-2 record shows. Having said that I really think this is going to be Cowboys in a whomping.

3.3

Steelers (1-1) @ Raiders (1-1)

Steelers are coming off a primetime win in pretty ugly fashion, and the Raiders got their breaks beat in by the Bills. Neither of these teams look very good, so who knows, maybe they are equally bad and therefore this one could be competitive. What am I supposed to say about some of these games?

5.4

Eagles (2-0) @ Bucs (2-0)

Eagles were a preseason Super Bowl contender, and while they are 2-0 they have looked beatable. On the other hand the Bucs were not expected to be competitive this year, and they are looking like they could be a scrappy team. Eagles could bring the Bucs back down to earth, or the Bucs stock could continue to rise.

8.2

Rams (1-1) @ Bengals (0-2)

This Monday night 8:15pm EST timeslot has been cursed, and it makes me scared for this game. Bengals NEED to come out hot in order for fans to have any sense of confidence in their offense.
