Every 0-1 team, except the Chiefs, should tank for Caleb Williams

Write a letter to your favorite team's front office, make a call to your local senator, protest outside of your team's training facility...do whatever you have to do to make sure your team knows they should be going after Caleb Williams.

I'm not much of a stats guy...and by that I mean...I like stats but I'm not smart enough to dig up any of my own stats. For the most part I'm just watching games and based on what I see, I'm forming opinions. Caleb Williams looks like Patrick Mahomes. Like legitimately, his play style is comparable to Patrick Mahomes.

The quarterback position is the most valuable position in any sport. It cannot be overstated how important of a position it is to "get right." I know it sounds like an overreaction, but if your team lost in week one, and you don't have Patrick Mahomes on your roster, I legit think you should go all in and tank for Caleb Williams.

"But...we just drafted a quarterback last year!"

It doesn't matter. As a fan of a team that has drafted like 40 quarterbacks in the last 20 years, I can assure you, they don't have a rule against drafting them in back to back drafts.

"But...we have a Pro-Bowl quarterback!"

It doesn't matter. Caleb Williams will be better than your quarterback. He is younger, and he will be better. Again, unless you have Patrick Mahomes (I'm looking at you Kansas City)...unless you have that guy, I am confident in saying Caleb Williams will be better.

"But...we just paid our quarterback a lot of money!"

It doesn't matter. Getting Caleb Williams on a rookie deal is going to be an absolute steal. Pay him rookie money and even if you can't find a trade, just have the most expensive back-up in the history of the game. I am telling you, Caleb Williams is going to win a Super Bowl in his first three seasons in the NFL.

Is that a hot take? Maybe...but I'm standing on the table and saying it. The only reason I'm not encouraging 1-0 teams to tank for Williams is because it's already a lost cause. Teams should be racing for 0-17 to get the opportunity to draft this guy. He is legitimately that good.
