Four Cavs Takeaways 20 Games Into the Season

Donovan Mitchell led the Cavs last night in a big win against the Boston Celtics. I don’t know about the rest of you, but this season has been the most exciting basketball season of my life. An insane Q4️⃣ for Spida. #LetEmKnow pic.twitter.com/ZAwRBFJHw5 — Cleveland Cavaliers (@cavs) December 2, 2024 Before you lose your mind…the 2014-2018 run was incredible, but man there was so much pressure. This season it feels like the Cavs have no pressure, and yet they have the best record in the league. Here are a few of my favorite things about this season: Isaac Okoro. Man, I love this guy, about a month ago Okoro had a box out in the Bucks game that brought youth coaches across the country to tears of joy. This guy does all the little things right. He is an excellent defender, he’s a hustle player, and he is drilling shots. He had a pass to Jarrett Allen late in the game last night that made me jump out of my chair. This guy is electric, and he doesn’t get the credit he deserves. I...

Have we stopped to consider that maybe the Browns beating the Steelers last week cursed Northeast Ohio sports?

The Kansas City Chiefs have demonstrated that black magic exists, and I am starting to think the Cleveland Browns are drinking the devil’s Kool Aid as well. Prior to the Browns TNF win over the Steelers the Cleveland Cavs and Buckeyes had only lost one game all season, however since the Thursday Night snow game both the Cavs lost to big games against the Atlanta Hawks and Ohio State lost to the team up north. Coincidence? It can’t be. Not only that, but the Guardians lost out on the Matt Boyd sweepstakes – so it is possible the Browns curse is rubbing off on them as well. Boyd gets $29M for 2 years. $14.5M a year Plus $1M pbs (500K each year) #Cubs https://t.co/qy3QNP82pR — Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) December 2, 2024 Why would the Browns work to dismantle the other teams in the Northeast Ohio area? No one knows for sure. But what we do know is Jimmy Haslam has been accused of being the devil before , so it is possibly a reawakening of the beast.

Beau Gannon's Gossip Girl Recap - Episode One

Good people of the internet, I am asking you, to follow me, a 32 year old man, as I embark on a journey through one of television's most decorated, respected,  poignant examples of a late 2000's teen drama...Gossip Girl.  I have never watched Gossip Girl before this, and I know nothing about the show. Found out yesterday that Blake Lively, Tony Romo's brother-in-law, Cindy Lou Who, John Tucker's brother, and the girl from a Netflix movie (The Weekend Away...bad movie) are all in this show.  My initial reaction? I'm going to love it. Is it good? Verdict is still out on that...but regardless I am going to love it.  Here is my reaction to episode one:  I am team S. S is Serena, but Gossip Girl calls her S, and I want to remain canon. Serena and Blair (Weekend Away girl) were longtime friends but S slept with B's boyfriend (Tony Romo's brother-in-law) and we discovered this information because Chuck Bass (we'll get into him in a moment), saw them going at it...

Soup Szn Week Six: Better Late Than Never

Image
We are a few hours away from Week Seven Thursday Night Football and I am just now releasing my Week Six soup review. I wish I had a better excuse besides creative laziness but ultimately that's all this boils down to.  I love  writing but sometimes I struggle with coming up with ideas and angles to write about. When I committed to this soup review blog series I hoped I would be able to give an in-depth weekly analysis of our soup journey. Admittedly I am struggling to find things to say but wanted to keep this up for anyone following.  This past week we debuted the first of our chili recipes. I say the first, because we are early in chili season, and I could definitely see us running it back later in the year. Chili is always incredible and the one McKayla prepared for us this past Sunday was no exception. Not only that, but with our fourth anniversary being today, we celebrated this past Saturday night. The carry-over from our celebration of love could be tasted in the c...

Soup Szn Week Five: Load Management

Image
Soup season is chugging right along. While this week kicked off the NFL bye week, soup season takes no rest. Sure, load management is a topic of conversation for professional athletes but not for hard working soup enthusiasts. And that's why, while the athletes are focusing on load management, we were focusing on loading up some baked potatoes in the form of soup.  Loaded baked potato was this week's soup, and like last week we had a few guests in attendance which added to the excitement of a full day of football. As you may know, this is also playoff baseball season, so the TVs were buzzin with sports content. Our Wi-Fi put in more work than five NFL teams this past weekend (the four teams that were on bye, and the New England Patriots...who lost 34-0 to the Saints.)  This really is the best time of year for sports fans. Football is in the full swing of things, playoff baseball is here, NHL and NBA are right around the corner, and college basketball follows right behind. Also...

Soup Szn Week Four: Cheeseburger in Paradise (Northeast Ohio)

Image
I'm switching up the soup review this week. Not only am I a day late with this review, I'm also changing the flow of the post.  Hand up, the last few weeks the NFL game results plugged into the soup review felt forced, and therefore I am going to abandon that about as quickly as the Patriots abandoned Mac Jones for Bailey Zappe. Okay...that's the last one I promise.  This week McKayla and I were coming off a marathon of a Saturday. Literally. We ran a marathon on Saturday. The fact we woke up early enough to watch the blokes in London cheering as Slinky Dog set the first down markers was nothing short of a miracle. NFL Sunday had an early start, and as a result, so did we.  Additionally, this Sunday, we had a few guests in attendance. My brother, sister-in-law, their son, and their dog all travelled down I-77 to join us for a day full of football and soup. This week on the menu we had cheeseburger soup. The soup was a combination of ground beef, carrots, garlic, onion, Ve...

Soup Szn Week Three: We're heatin up

Image
Week three of the NFL, was not the most exciting slate of games, but in the Soup-er Bowl season things were really heating up. This week we turned it up a notch and made chicken tortilla soup. And as usual, when I say "we made" I really just mean McKayla made it, while I brought a few laughs and some moral support. The kind of support a team like the Commanders could use after getting blown out 37-3 by the Buffalo Bills.  Unlike week one and two, there was very little pre-snap drama. No fingers cut off, no cats on the prowl. Just a solid 20-6 performance, like the Lions over the Falcons. And the great thing about chicken tortilla soup is, it seems pretty easy to prepare. I'm just basing that off of McKayla's stress level, or lack thereof. It wasn't, Dolphins 70 point domination en-route to a win over the Broncos, easy...but it was fairly easy. Plus chicken tortilla soup pairs nicely with some chips and queso which we enjoyed. It's always nice when you have som...
